If you get the following error:

Microsoft has blocked macros from running because the source of this file is untrusted.

or

The macro can't be found or has been disabled because of your Macro security settings.

You are likely seeing this error because you are still using the Macro Letters style of creating letters in Medilink. Or you may be using a third party Macro (like Argus etc.)

One fix is to use Word -> File -> Options -> Trust Center -> Trust Center Settings -> Macro Settings -> Disable All Macros, then close Word complete and see if that helps.

Note, this will disable Macros.

If you need Macros there are other things to try:

Generating Letters via Macro in Medilink has been deprecated for a long time now (since 2012). Please go to File -> General Options and untick Macro Letters. This will then switch to the Office Interop style of Letters (which does the same thing but you don't have to click the Macro shortcut and it has extra fields).

If you want to try and continue to use the old Macro and/or you want to be able to use Macros in your Medilink Letters, you may be able to bypass the error by ensuring that the file is trusted by adding a few areas to Trusted Locations.

  • Medilink Server Letters folder
  • %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft folder

Click on File.

Select Options.

Click on Trust Center from the left pane.

Press Trust Center Settings on the right.

Select Trusted Locations from the left.

Here you will see your trusted locations.

Tick Allow Trusted Locations on my network (the Medilink Letters are over the network so you will need this on).

Add new location

\\TYPE_YOUR_SERVER\MEDILINK\LETTERS

Click OK

Tick Subfolders of this location are also trusted

Add new location

Type %LOCALAPPDATA%

Press ENTER

Click the MICROSOFT folder

Click OK

Tick Subfolders of this location are also trusted

Repeat Add New Location for anywhere else you may get the error.
