Exclusions must be applied to Windows Defender to ensure that your Medilink server folder is not being scanned in real-time. You must do this even if you are using a third party anti-virus solution (i.e. turn on Periodic Scanning temporarily)! Otherwise, you may receive errors such as "Not Exact Read/Write" or "No More Files" when using Medilink.


  1. Right click Windows Start button
  2. Click Settings
  3. Click Update & Security
  4. Click Windows Security
  5. Under Virus & threat protection settings click Manage settings
  6. Under Exclusions click Add or remove exclusions
  7. Review your exclusions briefly, if your Medilink server folder not there, click Add an exclusion
  8. Click Folder
  9. Navigate to your server's Medilink share, for example e.g. \\MY_SERVER\MEDILINK or M:\medilink32bnt etc. (if unsure go to Medilink's Help -> About section)
  10. Click Select Folder
  11. Repeat navigation/selection of your local Medilink folder i.e. C:\medilink32bnt
